View Full Version : Media for Chambers
I have read that the 3 chambers at the rear of nano cube come with some pretty useless stuff?
It seems people have been filling the chambers with live rock and live sand! I have also read about media like rowphos. I am not up with this can someone tell me what I should fill the chambers up with and what suppliment to use and where I can get them from?
Thanks
for your help
Hi DC
I know what you mean. I have also read that the filter compartments can be used as a refugium and other.
Im not sure what I am going to do with the Cubes filter. I have got an idea to drill a hole in the tank, maybe in the side or in the base and put a refugium in the cabinet. Anyones thoughts greatly received.
I havent actually seen the Nano Cube apart from a few pics, so Im not sure if the refugium idea will work. I guess if it does work, the carbon in the cubes filter will have to be removed.

In my 24g nanocube Ive ditched all supplied media, Ive about 2.5k live rock rubble in middle chamber, supported on an egg crate plinth just above bottom weir, topped off with a ball of chaeto. Lit from above by 2x3leds supplied by litewave company. (others using unerwater lights or a light from behind after cutting away the back over center chamber) Not sure if I'd put sand in here though.
I've got rowaphos and purigen in first chamber and have created a egg crate grid at top on which i've got filter floss (cleaned every couple day and repalce with weekly water changes)
I'll post a top view of my rear chambers tomorrow if that'll help.
