Im thinking of supplementing the feeding of the light loving coral in my nano and am confused by the range of foods around, I've been told marine snow is good and otehr suggest phyto-plankton
whats the best, I've got sofites toadstool, finger leather, zoos, shrooms, xenia, star polyps, buttons
they all will readily survive and grow with just the correct lighting.
i've tried various supplements which include phyto, snow, coral vibrance and cyclopeeze.
in my opinon they haven't been of benifit on soft corals.
that said, on some tanks i know cyclopeeze is used for dentros and some people say that they have seen some results for the good.
i only feed on my systems the fish nori and mysis and then supplement my corals to which i also have lps with softies with cyclopeeze.
but only see a feeding response on the lps.
jase
ive used marine snow and never noticed any difference at all, i thought it was a waste of my money.
I use cyclopeeze and my sun coral loves the stuff :D
i have a finger leather and the polyps never came out at all for ages, i got really worried id bought a dying leather, I started using phyto and they came out straight away:D :D
my gorigian and toadstool leather love the phyto too.
(not sure on the spelling of gorigian lol!)
Anthony Calfo is big into feeding corals.
Check out his talk on reefvideos.com.
He suggests that it helps colonies to maintain health if for example light levels are suboptimal - also helps maintain tissue at the base of colonies where they may be shaded.

when it comes to feeding its best to try and see what they do, as for soft corals phyto is best but i would say you wont notice much difference in them and they dont really need feeding in my opinion but every one is to there own
