have you got corals hermits like this are really for fish only tanks and even then they can be capable of catching a fish but see what he is like first i have 3 big hermits in my tank but only about 2inch max
Is it red with blue spots? If so, it's a Dardanus megistos - big buggers and about as reef safe as a hydrogen bomb! They'll eat anything and everything (like most big hermits).
absolutely agree with cajen.....if it is "the big bugger" they are NOT reef safe and you shouldn't even put it in your tank...take it back or put it in the livestock section of this board, someone may be able to give it an appropriate home.

I once kept a large hairy red hermit crab in my reef tank with no problems, until one evening after the tank lights had switched off I saw it catch my queen angelfish, it was difficult to get it to release the fish, which did amazingly survive, the crab was given to a LFS, I would advise you against keeping it.
