Well, I got up this morning and put the light on in the tank, and the wife said "Daz the lobsters dead" I had a look and sure enough out in the middle of the tank was the remains of the lobster !!! we have just (1 week ago) added a puffer to the tank so we thought she had eaten it,,
I grabbed the tongs to remove the carcass and imagine my surprise out the corner of my eye behind a rock a lobster moved !!!! we only bought one lobster.
I took the carcass out and it was very clear that the lobster had shed, now I know that shrimps shed but did not know that lobsters do !!
has anyone had this happen to them if so how often does it occurr.

hi, im quite new to this but i have a bocing shrimp and it sheds around every 4 months so maybe the lobster is the same! I saw a lobster in my lfs and it was lovely, can it go in tank with most fish? it was only about 1.5" long, how big do they get? good luck!

all inverts with exoskeletons shed their outer casings as they grow. from lobsters to copepods.

In my experience, the smaller the shrimp/lobster (i've only got shrimps and crabs) is, the more frequently it sheds. My coral banded shrimp can shed up to once a month, but at times he doesn't shed much - might have somthing to do with how much they eat (and therefore grow). My crabs don't seem to do it too often at all.
