I decided the time was right to get that nem I always wanted, have to say I was swayed by the beautiful green carpet nem that appeared in my Lfs. I thought my tank was stable enough and all the parameters seemed ok, but after a week he really doesn't look very happy. He was feeding ok but has now rolled tightly into a small ball, looks very wilted and oozing stuff. Is he dying? His colour is still very bright so is there a chance he might pull through. If he is on his way out, at what point do I accept it and remove him? I think I'll take him back to the shop tomorrow and hope they can help, it'd be a real shame to lose him.... Any advice would be good. A.:o

I dont know a thing about them, but i wouldnt have thought removing it from your tank to take it back to the shop is the best idea for it at the moment. IF its in a bad way surly bagging it up and bouncing around on the way to the shop will be more stressfull for it than being sat quiet in your tank ?

He is actually looking lots better today, he ha opened up and looks healthier - fingers crossed...
They shrink occasinally to expel waste. Basically they take in water to inflate, and need to get rid of occasionally when they "do a toilet!"

most anemones contract and expel waste which is quite normal,if yours looks ok and it is not contracking all the time it should be ok.just keep an eye on it and make sure its not disintergrating which would polute your tank.derek
