After a wipe out disaster 5 months ago, I feel confident enough to purchase another fish. I fancied another tang, maybe a Yellow Eye, Purple or Naso or perhaps a Foxface. But, I would like advice on whether any of these would be suitable for me as a novice in my tank.

Any ideas and help appreciated - don't want to fall foul of the TANG POLICE :D

Ta, Tim.

Current stock as follows: Tomato clown, Common clown, 3xAlleni damsels & yellow tail damsel; and, a mixture of LPS & softies with a couple of SPS oh and a very large atlantic anenome.

Hmm. Your tank is round the lower limit for the smallest tangs, IMO. You could try a yellow tang.

Agree on the tank size, Purple or Yellow tang would be my suggestion.

Hi spanner,

If you want a smaller tang, then try one of the Genus Ctenochaetus http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ctenocha.htm
some only get to 5", although a 4' tank is not ideal, I don't think it would be uncomfortable.

Steve

Try a yellow, very polite but can look after itself

I would say don't go for a tang, go for a fox face. Mine eats everything and has bags of personality, gets on with everyone in my tank and will be great in your tank.

just on your limit for a small yellow tang, yellows dont grow to fast so you should be alright.foxfaces can grow quite large so i would not consider putting one in your tank.derek
