I bought a fungia plate coral at the weekend - looked really healthy in the shop fully open with tentacles waving in the current - but its not opened since i put it in my tank.
Any ideas how i can encourage it to come out or do i just need to be a bit more patient?

Sounds alright to me.

I don't know much about these corals, might be just a matter of sitting it out.

Is your lighting similar to the LFS?

Where have you position it?

Its resting on the bottom on the sand
Guess i just need to be patient.

They can be a bit slow to open their tentacles at first. The extension mine shows now is impressive compared to what it was originally. They do tend to come out more at night and in response to food - you could try wafting some brine shrimp over it or Cycclopeeze. I'm sure it will eventually be more responsive once it has settled in.
