View Full Version : Euphyllia ancora and Bubble smoking?
Hi all, I've recently noticed some of my LPS's giving off what I can best describe as smoke? It's not something I ever noticed in my old tank and to be honest my bubble has struggle with the change over, although it is starting to look alot better. The "smoke" it's self seems harmless enough as my regal tang munches it down no worries, I was just wondering if it was normal?
could be expeling some zooxanthellae.is it a brown colour?
my frogspawns and hammers do it from time to time and they are huge , the sailfin goes crazy for the stuff.
so it doesnt seem to harm them IME. never had my two bubbles do it though. HTH
cheers
mike
Yes, it is brown in colour. Is it a good or bad sign as my galaxia has also started giving off the same stuff- much to the delight of my regal- the anchora and bubble have since stopped, and are looking fine.
Tar very much!
Assumig all your params are correct i shouldnt worry. keep an eye on it though(colour, health etc)which you'll already be doing.
As with the bubbles have never had my galaxia do it.not to say it doesn't happen mind you.
how long since the change over and did you upgrade/change anything?
I swapped tanks just under 2 months ago, and have gone from a mini reef(20gal) to a Perc 90(50gal) which is quite an upgrade! other than that tanks the same- salt etc...as for the corals I've had them all between 6 months and a year and they always seem fine, bubble has struggled since the swap but is picking up. There are some pics of my tanks old/new in some of my other posts.
Thanks for the help
