Hi Guys. Five days ago I bought a juvenile lipstick tang but it won't eat. I understand new fish do not eat for a few days but I am getting a little worried now. It is not being hassled by any other fish and seems quite happy. Has any body experienced this problem? I would appreciate any suggestions.:(
Try anything alive: few fish can resist something moving. I use live brineshrimp, then frozen BS, then a frozen marine mix containing BS until the fish takes anything frozen. Have you tried dried seaweed sheets or nori?

Was it eating in the shop? Sorry - obvious question - but it has to be asked.

I have got around 10 different foods.
Try spirulina flake as its an algae, also try brine shrimp, plankton etc. buy some of these tmc multi packs. At the moment my powder blue loves prime reef!
What was it eating at the shop if so what?, is there live rock in the tank?

Thanks for your advice guys. Today I tried live brine shrimp and nori-porphyra seaweed and she is still not tempted. I have 90kgs of live rock in the tank. No I did not see the fish eating in the shop it was a bit of an impulse buy. I think I may have learnt a valuable lesson now.
Try putting some romaine lettuce in the tank on a lettuce clip or trapped under a magnet. I have found that they will eat this in preference to most other things.

give it a bit longer some can take over two before they start to feed.providing the fish is plump and not skinny just wait a little.the one i sold took two weeks before he fed but he was a large fish and was very fat so this was not a problem. he now eats mainly spirulina flake and dried sheets of seaweed.derek
