I doubt those readings are the cause for this. It is not normal for the coral to come out after lights out - are you sure it's a toadstool? Any chance of a pic?
i'm in work at the mo i will post a pic when i get home, do you think it could be light shock, or would it do this if one of the fish were nipping at the polyps??
I had this with one of mine it did this for about a week and it's just starting to come out now.
How long you had it.
i've had it around 2 weeks now, but no sign of any polyps, the base is still cream in colour and it looks healthy to the untrained eye

Whats the spec for the lighting?
Whats the spec of the dealers tank? (or tank it came from)
How far is it up in your tank? (close to the lighting)
Whats you salinity ? PH?
Is it deffo a Sarcophyton?
Scott
hi scott,
its about 8 inches under 24watt t5's, it was around 20 inches under t5's at the dealers.
my salinity is at 1.025 and my ph is 8.2
the only thing that is out at the moment is my kh which is now aound 12 ( got it high to help kill off some algae i've also cut the lighting down to about 8 hours a day but i dont think that would do it???

24watt t5's
How many?
.......well i added a Emerald crab (Mithrax sculptus) to my tank a few weeks ago to clear up a touch of macro. Job done. But i noticed my Sarcophyton closed up during the day. Odd. I then looked and found the crab like hangling on the stalk. In retaliation to this the polyps all closed, saftey i assume.
Check is theres anything using this as home in the daytime. Its a long shot but hey lol :p
Also has the stalk go shorter/longer since being in your tank?
It may well be light shock. I assume it was acclimatised correctly as its opening at night.
Move it to the sand for a while and take it from there.
