Im getting fed up looking at live artemia in shops and seeing about 20 for sale for £1.20 so ive thought about growing my own as the breeding kits are reasonably priced. Can anyone out there suggest a particular kit, and is it easy to do, and how many can you get at a time ie the success rate.
thanks

BBS (baby brine shrimp) are easy as pie, but I have never managed to get them to grow on properly. You also need to be aware that you'll need to feed them heavily before using them as the food value is very low - the shops generally have 'enriched' BS which have been fed heavily on special food.
There's some good info here: http://members.optushome.com.au/chelmon/Brine.htm
Hopefully someone with more success than me will come back with some constructive suggestions.

Same here, they don't live very long once hatched and they are of no food value when they do.
They should be fed young as apparently their is still some egg protien attached that will be of use.
They are very easy to grow, however you need a method of extracting them from the water as you can not just tip them in, due to the water they grow in becoming very very high in nitrates. There are special nets you can buy I believe.
I used to grow them but found it too much hassel for the result.
Good luck, growing brine shrimp on to adulthood to sell is not easy. In fact there is only one company that I know of that does it and they are based in france. I think all the UK stuff on sale now is from them.
It gives my anthias something to do and chase...I think they call it enriching the enviroment.
