I bought a 20lb bag and used 3/4 of it in hindsight I think too much and may even take some out Id say maybe 10lbs easier to keep clean :)

Not that I know of thats why I got the 20lb bag.

to be honest not sure of the so called benefits of 'live' sand although my system cycled with no spike osnt knwo if the sand helped here or not.

So you could get a smaller bag of non live sand much cheaper as well

yeah suppose mate, just I used it in my last tank and had no spike also. Seen some on ebay for £15 so not too bad
