Hi everyone,
I am considering both Chalices and Blastomussas for my tank; has anyone got any advice on their care, e.g acclimatisation, where to place in the tank, flow, feeding, etc.?
As ever, and advice would be greatly appereciated!:)

finding them might be hard especially blastos

but careful examination is needed when buying look for any damage to tissue if there is i would leave it in the shop maybe put a deposit down and see how it gets on.

as for positioning some where from half way and lower but depends on your lighting?? again medium flow not to strong and feeding use some coral food like phyto or something like salifert coral food blastos could be fed directly using either brine squirted on or with a small peice of meaty food

hope this helps

Hi - Both are relatively easy to keep - just very hard to get hold these days - especially Blasto's. I've got a blaso wellsi which I had as a frag of about 1.5inch - its been in my reef over 6mths now and has more than doubled in size. I have placed it at the bottom where there is less direct flow / and less direct light - I dont feed anything directly it just gets food via my std tank helpings.

Hope this helps

Personally i think flow is more important than lighting with chalice's, too much flow will tear the tissue away from the skeleton.
They also tend to like more of a vertical position than horizontal.
