View Full Version : cleaner shrimp breeding advice needed asap!
hi
I saw my cleaner shrimp release hundreds of babies last night after lights out:eek:
Although the fish managed to eat most of them im hoping some escaped.
my question is if this happens again what do i have to do to look after them?
seperate tank?
what do i feed?
what equipment do i need to raise them?
cheers
mark
i know a couple of members who have succesfully raised these, hopefully they will comment. if not i will pm and ask for their interference :D :)
It would be good if they would comment, or maybe do a write up on how they did it, as it is commonly thought that it is impossible for the hobbiest to grow them out to full adults.
I was interested in doing this myself a few years back but didn't have access to the specialist food and equipment needed, as with everything though, knowledge/technology may have improved to allow it to be done.
I didnt think anyone had got them to adulthood ?
Mine have eggs regulary, though I am yet to see any at fry :(
From what I remember, the people on here that had got them to grow had problems when it can to changing from a fry into a 'proper' shrimp as they didnt malt properly.
From what I read up at the time, they seem to be very sensitive to changes in salinity.
I will have a look for my old thread which had links to other threads.

hopefully that link works ..
If not, do a search with "cleaner shrimp" in the title, by me .. "eaval" and in the breeding section :)
any update on these?
i would also be interested to here if someone did raise them to adulthood.
