right, one of my gripes with my tank is the 80-120 majano nems i seem to have inherited. i don't do chemicals and so have let them carry on multiplying like they are going out of fashion. as much as they are hated i love diversity, even if it is a pest :D i always figured if corals ended up getting stung i would just invest in a butterfly, seems like a good idea to me :)

anyways my point, my parameters are stable and have been technically for a few years, i have introduced nothing special in recent weeks yet about a week ago my majanos crashed, all en masse shrunk in on themselves and appeared like they do if you remove their rock from the water.

a couple of months ago i introduced a yellow fin angel who is shortly for passing on as he is decimating my gorgonians and has destroyed a lovely pink milli. i haven't seen him take on any majanos and find it odd they all collapsed on the same day. 1 week down and none have recovered.

so, thinking folk, am i blessed in some way or has anyone heard of this happening to them in the past, if as i suspect.......i will be selling my old tank water for £29.99 per 500ml including delivery :D :D :D

Scoob,

As allways your on to a winner, i had a banded butterfly to get rid of mine, i then passed the fish on to a local fish keeper who had the same problem and its doing a grand job for him, i have no got one or two back, if you find the secret let me know.

My emperor angel eats any majanos or aips that appear in his tank. Unfortunately, he aint reef safe so he's not in my main tank.

I have had majanos in my main tank for about 3 years but I have never seen more than two or three at any one time. They dont seem to thrive at all. I've never had aips in there and hope that my copperband will make sure that I never do.

pavlo,

Have you seen your copperband eat one?

What have you seen it eat as i am thinking of getting one but here stories that they starve to death and do not last six months.

I have never had aiptasia in my main tank so, no I have never seen him eat one. He eats frozen food, mostly brine and mysis and he has been in the tank for about 3 years

It is true though that most don't last two weeks, let alone six months. There have been quite a few threads on here about them so I would suggest you do a search and some research before you get one.

Best of luck if you do go for it.

Just to be contrary - seeing it feed, doesn't guarantee it'll thrive in your tank. They seem to be one of those fish that need that x factor in a tank - something that obviously does exist in some setups, but I fear is probably absent from most. I had one that was a right pig - had it for over a year, eating frozen food. Then it suddenly wasted away. I replaced it, and the next one barely lasted a couple of weeks. :( I couldn't bear to try again.
