View Full Version : My new RBTA is spawning.....
My other half having seen a RBTA asked id i fancied swapping my dowdy brown malu for one... i laughed at her and said sure if she could find one...
well i tracked one down the oral disc is about 6-8 inches across and a vivid metallic green whilst the tentacles are a vivid red-pink colour... it is a real stunner
I collected it yesterday.. ususal drip acclimatised it and installed it complete with its own rock in a my tank...
I just came Home 15 minutes ago to find it spawning.... I wish i had batteries in my camera ....

Spawning is VERY different from splitting. Get plenty of aeration and skimming action going or you could have a wipe-out on your hands, especially in a small tank!

My tank is a 36 gallon... i have an mce 600 running on it and am gonna make enough water for a 20% water change... just hanged my carbon and purigen too...

No i mean spawning mate... itlooks like smoke is coming from the oroanal orifice...

Yup everything else is looking fine....the RBTA has totally deflated now...
Keeping a close eye on things....

Just what i said to the missus, she said did it fart roll over and goto sleep...:D
Had to sell the mother Nem as it got too big, but kept a clone (which is growing rapidly, looks exactly the same). Here’s a few pics of the mother nem spawning, which was a regular occurrence every few months:

Quick update...
My skimmer went mental...i did a big water change and everything is fine.. the nem seems happy, clownshave moved in too:)

Excellent - looks a super 'nem, and a bonus that the clowns have now adopted it!
