View Full Version : Toadstools - how close together?
I have 1 frag toadstooll expanded to 1" when I got it. Now expands to 4"
I got another about 4 days ago which is larger at about 5x3
Question is I have put the new one about 5 inches below the older one.
1st day smaller one closed up and the new one was out in full.
2nd day small one is open and so is new one.
3rd/4th day Both have closed up ad stayed like this for the last 48 hrs
A) should I move the newer one further apart?
B) should I leave them where they are and see what happens?
Thanks
Leave them, and give it a little more time IMO
Hi
I have had this problem with soft corals, some can be quite aggresive :o .Leave for another day and see what happens, and if they have't opened move further away from each other,it's a bit of trial and error really till u find them a spot which they like:) .
Cheers Jon h
thanks guys.
There both really nice pieces. The larger one is actually on a large tiger something shell and the ends have pink zoas growing on them!!
All of today neither have opened. I think im gonna try moving apart but ill wait til tom evening so if anyone else can advise as well that would be great.
most sarcophytons (if thats what it is) can take several days to settle after moving tanks. i would leave it where it is for now, if after a week its still closed up then try moving it.
thanks Muzzy, Can you tell me if the new one would cause the old one to close down as this is what it looks like.
I dont mind leaving them, can understand why new one maybe closed but wanted more of an idea as why old one has closed down.
if they are both the same species then they should be fine touching each other
Well, Moved them apart yesterday morning and both started to shed a think clear layer. By the afternoon both had completley opened up and have stayed that way!!!
yaay!!
Thanks to all for responses,, now...... wot was my next quest.......
