UltimateReef is pleased to announce the arrival of a Frag Exchange Area.

Although it is in its most basic form at present we do hope to build on it.

If you are a member with 50 + posts and 3+ months membership then please contact a member of the mod team for Full access.

You will know if you fall into the above bracket as you will already be able to see it exists.

Rules and Instructions are within the forum once you have gained Full access.

Thanks

UR.COM Mod team.

The Rules:-

The aim of this area is NOT for selling, but as a location where you, the members, can post up to 4 pictures of corals you have available for swapping with other members. UltimateReef.com cannot be held responsible for any swapping that goes wrong, the idea is to treat the area as a club, and have fun swapping.

1. NO selling will be tolerated. Any posts with prices attached or subsequent pm'ing asking a member for a price will lead to a single warning. No further warnings will be given and offenders will be barred from this section.

2. Ultimatereef.com cannot be held responsible for losses through the swapping process. BUT we will try to assist if needed.

3. Moderation team decisions on access to the Frag Swap area are final. Continued non -availability of frags to swap will lead to exclusion from the area. (You have been given access as you have stated you want to post frags for swap, therefore please ensure you do).

4. Only 1 THREAD is allowed per member (you will have edit rights to your own thread)

5. You may have no more than 4 different frags for swap at any one time, however you may have multiple quantities of the same coral frag. (Please edit out frags no longer available etc). All frags offered MUST have pictures posted in the thread.

6. Sponsors are also allowed to offer swaps.

7. Posting is allowed, but we strongly recommend one of you visits the other member to conduct the swap if at all possible. (If posting please ensure frags are adequately packaged and protected, kept warm by insulation and heatpack, and have a guaranteed timed delivery to suit the recipient)

8. As you are swapping, each member is responsible for the postage of his own coral being sent. Postage costs will NOT come into discussion.

9. AGAIN......NO SELLING, NO COMMERCIAL BUSINESS ES (Non sponsoring).

Finally this area is very much a trial, and can be removed or amended as the Moderation Team sees fit.

Thankyou.

sounds good,, however, you can't see any of the rules etc unless you read this post as the whole area is permission only.

any way to make the rules and access visible on the area, but not the actual threads perhaps?

Is it possible to make it read only, or is the idea that you have to be actively fragging and swapping to be a part of it?
I'm sure some people would browse the area without doing any swaps, but might want to swap just once by replying to someones offer.

Also the intention is that you cant view the threads unless an active swapper, we will remove members added, who turn out not to offer swaps.

Full members can see the threads build up, but cant get into them.

That is not a fault but planned.

ok, that clarifies a couple of points. thanks

so it's a forum for people who are actively swapping all the time. if you have a couple of nice frags of something you might swap, but only for something special, you can't use the forum as you're not active...or can u specify will only swap for a frag of cataphylia for instance?
If you have one frag and swap it, then nothing for a few months you'll lose access?

just trying to work it out, not having a go ;)

also, what are the rules regarding pming people offering a swap if you don't have access to the forum?

I know kev is offering orange rics..they don't vary much so no real need to see a pic.
I pm him offering a swap.
Have i broken any rules, bearing in mind i have no access to the area?

Yep, every rule of the forum, sorry, strict but we are trying to create a "Club" atmosphere

If you have one frag and swap it, then nothing for a few months you'll lose access? You can request to be added / unadded at will.

So if you have some frags now for instance, then get access, if in a few weeks time , you don't and don't imagine having any for a while then ask to be deactivated from the forum.

People can stay inactive for a few weeks or even a month, but after that if I check and you have advertised nothing for quite some time then I will remove access.

when you say forum, do you mean UR or frag swap area?
If the former, then i can't see how it breaks any existing rules
If the latter, you are breaking rules for an area you have no access to anyway. That could be odd.

....i love playing devils advocate :D

Only in the FRAG swap forum.

Thats the rules for this one forum.

You are correct in what your saying, but the user that you are pm'ing if they do a deal may well lose access themselves, and I hope they dont want that and see the frag swap area as fun and do not want to lose access.

There is some trust involved here of course,.
