View Full Version : Ricordia going walkies.
About 4 months ago I bought a nice piece of LR that was covered in approx 10 ricordia, but over the last couple of months all but 3 of them have detached from the rock and setup home elsewhere in the tank. Is this normal behaviour?
Thanks

Hi,
I have some mushrooms which are about 7-8” across that move around a bit, they don’t move too far but when they do they always leave 2 or 3 new little ones behind. Not sure if ricordia do the same.

Hi Stinky Pete
Do you know what type of Ricordia you have?
I have one that looks very similar to your pic and I am trying to ID it.
Thanks
Phil.

no idea what it is, that pic was taken about 6 months ago, the polyps on it now are 5-6 times more inflated/extended. Some are so long they look like cork screws, if they straightend they would be a good 1 1/2" to 2" long. Not sure if this is how they should be but they keep mulitplying.

Any chance of an up to date pic?

Very Nice Mate!
Do you feed them anything?
Stinky Pete

nothing intentionally, I only feed the fish as all of the corals I have so far feed off the light or the same food as the fish.
Do they go through stages of being deflated and not as plump?

every night when the lights go out they deflate and shrink up and some of the larger ones will close in on themselves so all you see is the underside.
They have also had a few stings from my open brain and from aiptasia and the polyps (or whatever theyre called) went tiny, smaller than the size of the centre polyps in the first pic I posted
