My reef has been going for around 2 months, i bought around 80 Kilos of live rock from lots of different places, the best stuff coming from one
of the regulars on this forum, so really a thank you is owed there. I bought some really good rock from Leicester Aquatics that seems to really get better each week.
The Tank is 8ft, with a series 3 250x 3 halide pendant and 2 blues, the filtration is via the live rock, the 10K skimmer and 2 external filters.
This is my first reef, and i have got to say i'm loving it. I plan to add more live rock ( around 50 kilos ) just as soon as my wallet stops bleeding!

Thanks, i am proud and interested about developing the reef, i will eventually hide all the cables etc, it will take another 6 months or so.
I need some suggestions on what fish to add, i have only put 4 in for the time being, they are the Powder Blue, the Goby and a pair of Clowns, i think i only ever want to take it up to around 10 fish. Any help and suggestions would be great.
superb tank, would look great with a shoal, maybe a small school of green chromis?
well avoiding fish that prefer mature tanks i.e: copperband butteflys type fish.... i reckon you've got pretty much free rain for most fish, in terms of the size of your tank!
if that was mine..... its a hard choice but of the top of my head.... i think i'd have a bigish school of anthias, i think they look really nice,
were you thinking of big or small fish?

I like the idea of small fish, they should feel like they have plenty of room.
I'll start looking up your suggestions, i am still at the stage where names mean very little until i google image them.

I like the green chromis, how many do you think they would need to feel happy?
Would 5 be enough?

In a tank your size 5 would get lost
30 would be more like it :D

I hope this does not sound like a thick questions to ask, but where would the Chromins tend to be in the tank? The tank will will soon be set into a wall and the view area slightly cut from the top of the tank. I want fish that stay pretty low!
i havent owned any, but i'd think middle to top of the tank, you could get some yellow tangs? your probaly gonna have enough live rock by the sounds of it! dont know if the regal would be a problem or not?
the chromis or anthias would look really good in a nice group, its something i wish i could have in my little 4footer!
Thats a nice looking tank m8,really like the pdb tang:D ,i have a sick naso :( that prob won't make it he was doing really well but turns out he's got internal parasite's which i can't do anything about:mad:
cheers Jon h
looks very nice i like the size plenty of room
on the pics it looks like there int much water
movement is this a temp.... thing or is it how you want it ?
nice tank - but i think there is tooo much water, lol!
your brace bars should be above the water line not under it, they will get covered in algae and be a nightmare to clean for one thing.

...... and reduce oxygen exchange at the surface.
nice tank jody
i have a 7x2x2 and also live in leicester...
reason i say this is taht i have both a school of 18 chromis and 7 anthias....along with loads of tangs and other fish (tangs are my favourite)
ur welcome to pop down and have a look at how they swim/interact and generally get some ideas
no presssure, just if u want to....
also keep an eye out on ur powder blue and get some good quality food in him...he needs to bulk up a bit....
dont panic but make sure he is well feed with plenty of greens
