Hi Guys

Thought you might be interested to see pictures of our D+D nano which has been stocked with SPS since September last year.

The tank is basically stock but I have fiddled with the pumps and now run 2 700 LPH pumps in sections 1 and 3 with polyfilter and bio balls in the middle chamber this will be coming out slowly over the next month or 3 to be replaced with LR rubble.

We also add Fauna Marin Ultrabak and UltraMin S.

Looking good,
What lighting are you using Peter?
Jay:)

Hi Jay

Just the 2 x 36W compact fluro's it came with.
This gives about 240W/M2 which seems to be perfectly sufficent for reasonable growth.

Hi peter, great tank...

Its nice to see someone having success with SPS in a nano. You said that its been stocked with SPS since sept last year but how long was the tank running before you began adding them?

It was running for about 6 weeks before the first one went in.
However it was initially stocked with very mature LR, then frequent (twice a week) 25% water changes and constant monitoring.
I didn't see an ammonia spike or elevated nitrate readings during the month up to introducing clean up crew (30 hermits and 6 nassarius snails) 2 weeks later we put the first corals in.

looks good, you could try the actual fauna marine ultralith in the chamber rather than live rock rubble. You may get better colour in your SPS

Should have mentioned I'm already running a small amount of ultralith, and increasing the quantity slowly

I think you are always gonna struggle with light intensity .... i was shocked how much my corals coloured up when i upgraded my lighing

Martin,

You are absolutely right the colour isn't as vivid as it would be under MH, but the photos do wash it out a bit, for instance the staghorn actually has sky blue tips and has since October when it went in.
