hi all
i've only got two yellow tail damoiselle and i have watch one stay in is hidey place for a few days now the other one swims around the tank
to day i can see small black spots over the rock that hides under
i read some where that
The eggs will hatch in 3 to 7 days. The larvae then drifts away as plankton, feeding on the other zooplankton and phytoplankton for several to many weeks, depending on the species. A damselfish can take from 2 to 3 years or even longer to mature, with each species having its own timeframe.
if this is right then they are not going to serive because off filters and other fish i would like to give them a go but how any ideas
the rock they are on is smallish and i can move it

Remove it and if you have a tank set up with a running filter at 10X per hour thats great. Not more that 10 times though. Being reef babies they CAN withstand surges to a certain extend. Remove the rock and the guarding parent, one eggs hatch bring out mrs damsel. Feed rotifers-napaulii and so on.

Hi mate, one of my old coleagues tried to raise these at the London Aquarium but had no luck. the fry seemed to be too small to take rotifers as a first food. if you keep a high enough population of rotifers in with them they might be able to start on juvenile rotifers, alternatively you could try copepod nauplii.
Good luck.

oyster eggs may be the way forward as they are roughly 50% the size of rotifers
