Hi,

as the title says, does anyone know or experienced this as my oen brain was doing something weird last night.

one of its mouths looked as if it had turned inside out, so it looked like a tube sticking out and maybe trying to dispell it. It is fine again this morning, but I am worried incase this has nothing to do with it multiplying.

It is a long shot but I do have a single button polyp that was drifting around the tank yesterday, but the polyp was in the same place this morning as it was before the lights went out last night, and as they are very toxic, surly the brain would not try and eat it.

Any help, will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

Are you sure it wasn't getting rid of waste or expelling some zooxanthellae as some brains seem to do realtively regularly, even when they're happy?

One of our lobophylia opens its mouths fairly regularly to let some brown stuff out, which is either waste or zooxanthellae... I don't know about reproduction, but assume they're the same as many others in that they release parcels of gametes. Haven't any real basis for this assumption though!

Can you describe the tube that was sticking out? Had the coral fed before this? I won't know the answer, but it's interesting...! (Sorry!)

the tube looked like the center part of the brain, in my case the brain is red/pink outer and a nice green inner. I couldnt tell if it was green though as my lights were out and I was using a torch. At one point though where the tube joined where the mouth was I could see a white fluffyish ring around the end of the tube/mouth.

It is odd and I/ve never seen it before, but I have never seen it exhale anything either

It's a beautiful specimen. Is the stuff coming out breaking up like cotton wool?
