well here goes

firstly, ide like to say a thanks to john m for helping and agreeing to let me do this....thankou.

i must also state thate while most of the frags are ours, some stuff is being held for a freind, who has run out of room

the idea behind this got a bit out of control, what started off being a small fragging set up, in johns garden shed, (well, more of an outhouse at the bottom of the garden) soon grew arms and legs

but it also acts as a holding system for when i build my next and last tank, going from my current (7x2x2) to a (10x5x4)

and for john, as a growing on system, for when he goes from a (6x2x2) to his
(10x3x4-ish)

this has been put together, mainly as a bit of fun and for a bit of fragging

myself supplying all the gear

john supplying the premises and electric

stu chipping in

we all started with a £200 budget each, this covered the costs of plumbing, salt, eggcrate and gravel, the rest of the gear i already had, but we also have 2 x more of the low down frag tanks that could go on at a later date, giving us a total of 3000 litre of space

cheers guys,

youve got to do it in style, but its early days and its only been running 2 weeks, we did add 600 litres of dirty water from our own tanks though, and it took ages to fill with ro

I heard a rumour you were setting up a shop is this the being of it

I recognise a load of the gear from Steve's i.e.tanks, pump, calcium reactor must have cost more than £600 for that lot

simon

some of the gear was steves, not the pump though, a couple of bits of steves pump remains, nothing electrical though (leaving it in the garden for 2 months , in the rain didnt help)

the calc reactor, sump, frag tank and 4 ft tank, every thing else is mine, oh and the skimmer

its all the little bits that cost the money, to make everything else work

the £200 each budget was for plumbing, salt, coral gravel and we failed miserably, myself and john ended up shelling alot more out, worth it though/

its not the beginings of a shop, just a bit of fun, if i, or john eventually set up big systems, then it would cost a fortune to stock with corals

so the easy way around this, was to grow smaller colonys on for a year, in this system, so as they would be a decent size, when we do our future builds

and it also gives us a holding system for anything else we may pick up

makes sense

cheers bry,

youve got to remember, this is a shared project, with myself, john, and stu, you met the others at the tp open night.

and not everything in this system is ours, we are looking after some of it for a freind.

but as the system progresses, we will be fragging more and building up the coral selection

I realise there is a lot of water in this system, any idea what the LR ratio is. Interested as i am setting up a frag tank on a much :) smaller scale.?

Is that a sand substrate on the bottom of the frag tank and was it necessary or just for looks?
