I've taken the plunge and cut my toadstool down as it was taking over my tank. It's currently sitting in a bucket of water.
My question is how long should I leave it in there before I put the "stump" back in my tank?

The toadstool's recovering nicely. I'll post a piccie soon. I'm going to cut the other one this week if anyone wants a free frag.

Hi Bradden, how much gunk came away when you cut it as I need to cut mine in the tank,it is attatched to a large rock that is burried. The stem on mine is about 7" thick. Thanks Allan

I would certainly recommend doing it in a bucket as it did release a lot of slime. Even after leaving it in there for a couple of hours it was still secreting, next time I'll leave it in the bucket for a day or so with heater & pump. I did find my nitrates rose for a few weeks after putting it back in. It's recovered nicely now though.

Ok thanks for that,Will prob have to do some moveing rocks around.:( Just when I got it looking good.Have you had any problems of Large Leathers haveing bald patches on them?IE no polyps extending.Mine has had this since I transfered it from another tank.Nothing seems to be nibbling at the polyps.http://www.ultimatereef.net/uploader/2006Q4/bald leather.JPG

Brad,

Sad news - the frags - all of the small and large have given up. The polyps have not extended now for about 7 days, it just started 1 day every one of the them stopped.
everything else in the tank has been absolutely fine.

a very annoyed and sad

That's a real shame. I've no idea why that has happened. There was a small piece which I put in Coupe_Girls tank. It's attached itself to the rock and it regrowing really nicely.

when you fragged these mate, did you just cut off part of the head or some of the foot too? If so, how far down did you go??
