I thought they released small red balls (gametes? eggs?)
I know evilervin has posted pics of it.

Would be nice if it is though :D

When my sun coral spawned can't remember it looking like that. The way the polyps are looking is similar, but it never produced mucus like that.
whats your water quality like sometimes they try to spawn if water quality
is declining. If it does spawn turn the pumps off or down and let gametes settle on a rock, then a couple of days later you will have lots of baby polyps!!good luck

Hi kieran,

IME and IMO, this is not spawning, and has nish to do with reproduction.
Any gamates or larvae ("small red balls") will exit via the mouth, its also definatly not budding.

So,

IMO something is not right environmentally.
What are your current water parameters?
Have you been excessively using areosols or paint?

As a precaution, if i where you, i would do a partial water change, run some carbon (or change old stuff for new) and if possible add a polyfilter for a few days.

Sorry not to be of much help,
Roger

Thanks mate
Didn't think it was reproduction
Coral was moved to new tank last week, and some live rock added yesterday (very mature, only out of water for an hour) so am guessing it's a reaction to a bit of stress.
Params all check out, and rock hasn't made a cycle yet (shouldn't do anyway)
It was out and feeding fine last night when i fed it.
Will observe and see how it goes
