I can see the argument for not using UV on a system because it systematically kills all bacterian in ones system. However, why is it that ozone cannot be used if it is connected to a skimmer and whilst also running zeolite media in a reactor? if the ozone is restricted to the skimmer, how does this affect the bacteria levels in my aquarium?

I know there has been a lot of heated debate about the use of ozone in particular but just wondered how it will affect the low nutrient systems when a reactor is in place?

Thanks,

Chris

Good Q. My guess is that if O3 was confined to the skimmer only that wouldnt be a problem. How easy is that to achieve?

last time I spoke to Claude about this, his opinion was certainly NO UV at all, ozone, if used should only be for clarification of the water and only a few hours a day. Dont use ozone as a water sterilization unit and chase higher ORP readings. At least thats how it came across in translation!
