Less Skimate

Currently cycling reactor 3 on 3 off been running since Monday.

Notice when cycle off skimmer skims fine when cycling on skim doesn't seem to bubble as well

Any ideas skimmer is an mc 500.

This may be due to added nutrients from the bacteria and stones flattening the skimmer for a while :-) thats a practical answer rather than one I know for sure.

could it be due to fluctating water levels when your reactor is turned on/off?

That is exactly what is happening when the skimmer goes on flattening is a good way to put it, once the skimmer has been off for a bit it pumps up some real nice skimate again.

Note since using my reactor my one acro frag has really started to come out of itself polyps really extended and tank still looks good so guess all going ok.
