Hi
Just a heads up I have had a good few requests for this probably because I always rabbit on about the original Balling rather than Balling lite method.

The traditional style uses a chloride free salt to keep things in balance in the aquarium my favoured method. The three bottles 1 calcium/2 hydrocarbonate/3 chloride free salt. This three part method works great is easy, to use and gets good growth. It also allows easy management of calcium and alkalinity. I then make a separate magnesium additive using sulphate and chloride which is dosed as required after testing. I have generally found continued dosing of magnesium is not necessary once stable YMMV.

All Balling salts Sodium hydrocarbonate, calcium chloride, Magnesium Chloride, Magnesium Sulphate, are available SRP £8.99 per pack from various board sponsor including the much asked for Chloride Free salt.

For those who want to use it to the total original formula the FM range of B trace elements is produced to Ballings formula and saves you having to ask your chemist for lithium, cobalt, Fluoride, kryptonite and other strange elements. Again available from board sponsors.

Bumpity bump!

Is this the Fauna Marin NaCl-free salt, Jez? Even though it's a good 6 months since you posted this, I can't find mention of it on the FM site - or indeed on any of the sponsors sites!

Hi Claude,

Thank you for your reply. Do you have any idea when this will be available to purchase in the UK? In March, Jez said it was "in stock" yet I've still not seen any shops selling this here.

Kind regards,

That's all good to hear - now all I need to do, is find somewhere within travelling distance that has it in stock!

Good luck with that, I've given up expecting anywhere within travelling distance to have anything useful in stock. 90 minutes down to CGA is the best I can do.

Ridiculous isn't it? Those guys within 30 minutes or so of CGA, STM, et al, don't know how lucky they are!
