Many Many mounths ago i had a Leather mushroom, as one of my first corals, i milliputied it to a rock as it didnt have alot of rock on its foot the milli got on its foot it basicly detached its self from its stork and had a hole in it, now, the coral is still alive but every single polps only extends a cm and is a very brown colour, if i look at the poylps closly compared to my other very very healthy leather i have right next to it they are just hanging there no white tips on the poylps just all brown , the coral has very little zooanthelle or wht ever its called as it is very rough and has no slimy algea, it still attachs to rocks and grows but is extremly unsightly. and it seems its perminant damage as its been like this for mounths now.

what shall i do ? i need to clear some of my tank out, but i dont expect anyone to take this poorly leather and i dont see any way for it to get bak to its origanal self as it hasnt in mounths..

please help :(

It sounds like you want to chuck it in the bin which I wouldn't do because I'm sure someone just starting up who lives near to you would kindly have it.
Also you say that it is growing so it can't be in that bad health. If I were you I would leave it to see if it does recover- they usually do, or if you really want rid of it give it to a local reefer or take it to your LFS. :)

You say you have another leather right next to it, have you tried moving them further apart. Just an idea.

I find it hard to believe it wont recover given time and the right conditions. I've poisoned mine and broken the stem multiple times and it keeps bouncing back.

Maybe you could try fragging it? One of the times I broke the stem a tiny fragment of stork was left, it's now a healthy looking frag with polyps.

Have you got somewhere around the back of your rocks that doesn't get seen where you could place it?

id agree with above, MOVE it away from the other Toadstool.

Its still alive, its showing polyps. How can you say jus bin it. Its a live animal.

If everyone binned corals that didnt look good. What would this hobby be like. :annoyed:

If you dont want it, give it away, im sure someone else will be more than happy to re-house and re nurse the toadstool.

At least give it a chance.....

it was away from the other toadstool for about 3 mounths, and iv given it a 5mounth chance just left it there and nothing happens.
