I used to connect to the Net via a BT Voyager & the Aquatronica was more than happy to update via this, but I've now gone to a router connected to the main PC (running the aquatronica software) via a direct cable & now the aquatronica says it can't find the Net even though everything else can???

What do I need to change to make it happy again please? :o Its a Netgear wireless router DG834Gv3 if that helps?

Cheers Shelton.

Most likely your Router is blocking Port 21. I think the aquatronica software uses that port for updates. You need to go into the new routers config and unblock that port.

Thanks for the reply, but that means bugger all to me I'm afraid! :( Any chance of an idiots guide??? I've tried the manufacturers website but its speaking a different language!

Depends wghat Router you have. For example with a Netgear you go to the setup menu go to services and create a service for port 21 accessing TCP & UDP. THough I doubt its a Netgear as thats what I have and I cant get web access.

For this time, can you connect direct rather than through a router?

As a Robby says, the router is blocking the port that the tronica wants to talk through.

I can't connect direct anymore as don't have the facility? It seems strange that Aquatronica don't just make the updates available via the website, or is that a marketing ploy to make you pc the PC kit?????

I have enabled port80 in the services of the router for both TCP/UDP, I have also tried enabling that both in my firewall, also stopping the firewall program altogether & nothing makes a difference it just bleats about not being able to connect?

What IP are you trying too connect to? You cannot connect to your Internet IP while on the same network. You can only connect to the local IP that you assigned to the Ethernet eg 192.168.0.5
What IP did you assign the Ethernet module?

Are you talking to me? If so I think you've mis-understood me, I am conecting my PC to the net via ethernet/router, I don't have the Aquatronica ethernet module?

I've just uninstall/reinstall the software & it now connects to the Aquatronica site, but times out after about 20mins :annoyed:

Oh sorry got the problems mixed up.
The reason you might be getting the timeout is that Aquatronica had removed the update yesterday. I will check and see if they have put up a new file yet.

Ah right, now that could explain it! I have been sent the file by someone on here with permission from Ian, I updated the PC software, connected & it told me there was an upgrade! :)

Finally & it downloaded/updated just fine so fingers crossed its all sorted now :)

Interesting I wonder if those who did update will need to re do it?

I talked to them via email and they said that during the compilation/compression of the MSI file an error developed, they have not found out why but the Installer is giving problems with that one dll, they evidently tried again today and the error is still happening. (Not something new to people who use Microsoft development tools :) )
I guess that a version 5.62 will come out tommorow.

I am not sure why they did not just copy the instructions that I made into the Readme file. It works perfectly and is not all that hard to do.

No I was told its the same files. Personally I am still going to do an update but for those who are worried about another round of updates, you should not have any problems as the Save and Restore works perfectly.
