due to my cyano out break i was syphoning all the crap off the rocks etc. caught a couple of heads on various lps, hammer and frogspawn mainly. broke off a few polyps. all the rest of the polyps seem fine and are out. will the rest of the head recover or will the whole head die back now.

beautifull too, purple and green hammer.

bloody sick of this cyano covering my sand and rocks.:annoyed:

while i am at it i blew the power head at the sand and blasted it all over the place i got lots of like furry stuff sitting on top of it, not cyano but something else. tried to syphon most of it out.

syphoned all the water through filter floss then added it back to my tank. no sure how much good it done but i cant just sit here and watch my tank turning brown:(

As long as you haven't injured the flesh of the corals and the breaks are in the corals' skeleton then all you've done is a bit of accidental fragging and it should have no effect. If you've injured the flesh of the coral then depends on your environmental conditions and severity of the injury, although if decent water parameters should be OK!

it was the actual polyp that i hoovered up, so suppose this is flesh. i expected the whole head to close up but it hasnt. bit of skeletom showing a bit but it is still covered in flesh.

time will tell.

I'm not sure how much this will help, as I'd have thought that the algal spores would be small enough not to be removed by the filter floss?
