View Full Version : Urgent Please Help
My aquatronica seems to have gone belly up, on the screen the time is stuck on 20:27 and it says PU01 and the rest is gyberish.
THe wierd thing is if I totally disconnect it, the screen stays the same and the back light stays on!!
It must have some sort of back up battery but the never normally keeps the back light on!
What can I do to reset it?
Sounds like the controller has died. I recommend you contact your dealer on that one, and he should exchange it.
BTW If you leave the unit unplugged for an hour or so the battery should dissipate and the unit will come back on when plugged back in, but the unit most time freezes again after a few days. I have heard of a few cases of this and aquatronica has said that they are investigating what might be causing it.
Thanks Rob,
If I leave it unplugged, then plug it back in once it has died it works ok for about an hour then does the same thng again :(
I think I might try a total factory reset/re flash if anyone knows how to do that?
But after you've done all that, will you still trust your tank with it?
What's going on with Aquatronicas?
I've read several reports like this now. I guess it's probably only a small minority of owners who suffer, but it only needs to happen once when you're not there and it's goodbye reef!
(I don't have one, I was sort-of half thinking about it but this has pretty much put me off).
thats why i went for an IKS. i have had no trouble with it at all.
Yeah its definatly lucky I spotted it!
I had similar problem's - they did a swap out, you'll have to send it back. When I got a replacement I now found another problem which may suggest it was not the controller in the first place. Try unplugging some of the sensors to see if that resolves the problem.
It is a problem that seems to only affect a certain batch of controllers, don't waste time trying to fix it, Aquatronica is aware of the situation and will do an exchange when you contact your dealer..

Bumpy.
My Aquatronica has started exhibiting this behaviour as of about a week ago, for no apparent reason. I updated the firmware to the latest version a while back (no problems doing this). It's now "crashing" within a couple of button presses of the on-screen menu, but even when left alone it locks up after a couple of hours. Unplugging the controller from the plug bar will reset it each time, but it's only a matter of time before it locks up again.
Has my unit suddenly become a "problem" controller? It's out of warranty now, so do I have to just bin it and buy another? :(
Hi Ian,
I think you will have to substitute the unit, you can contact service@aquatronica.com and your local supplier to substitute.
Bye

Hi there,
Thanks for the quick reply - I have also had an email from Aquatronica service. I will respond to this when I get home this evening. Fingers crossed I will not be without a controller for too long.
Many thanks,
can you let me know how you get on as mine is also out of warrenty, but the back light keeps flickering & going really dull, will give tronica an email & test the water though!

Not today :( I was asked to forward the "lot number" off the back of my unit and haven't heard anything back. In the meantime, the last "crash" caused the RO reservoir to be emptied into the sump (top-up pump locked on). I've had to leave the Aquatronica completely unplugged to come to work as I can't risk plugs sticking on. :(
i think we have had the same email! have now sent details but no reply yet!

I spoke to Aquatronica technical support this afternoon. They recommended a replacement controller as the most appropriate course of action. A quick call to ITC and I'm picking up my replacement tomorrow. Cheers guys! :)

Nope - still under warranty (according to Aquatronica service desk).
Fingers crossed we're sorted now - there have been minor changes to the hardware since the very early ones. But thanks for the heads up, Will - I'd forgotten you had one!
Hi Ian,
update your "new" controller to the last FW version ;-)

Already done! :D
Thank you.
Come home tonight to find mine has done the same! screen stuck on, so I unplugged for a few mins & now I get nothing on the screen, but the backlight is stuck on!
I did the firmware upgrade when posted with no probs, but wonder if there is actually a problem with that?
Kudos to Ian though for answering his mobile at nearly 6pm & straight away saying he'll do his best to get a replacement in the post tomorrow, if not weds...
Cheers, Shelton.

All sorted Shelton?
Hope so. :)
Nope :(
When I spoke to Ian yesterday he was hoping to get it in the post today, but said he was gonna be real busy so might be tomorrow, he did say he'd email... having not got anything I can only presume it didn't make the post today...
The timer functions on 1 plugbar are still working, but nothing on the other? I'm trying to manually keep temp etc correct atm......
Certainly has made me think about this & having such a unit controlling everything?
Cheers, Shelton.

It's weird that one plugbar is continuing to function but not the other. When I've been "experimenting" (i.e. during "downtime"!) I've found the plugbars to perform the timer function without the controller even being connected. Perhaps it's the plugbar that is at fault?
In my blacker moods I've considered swapping / outing the Aquatronica. But for the most part I've been hugely impressed with it. Now that I am able to write software to communicate with it that's opened up many more possibilities for me to make use of it.
Hope you're sorted out soon, mate.
I have had issues with that said plugbar coming up disconnected from time to time, I did unplug the lead from it to see whether the controller came back up, but got nothing?
I must say that in my post I wasn't blaming the Aquatronica, more questioning the all eggs in one basket situ I now find myself in??
Cheers, Shelton.
