that looks sound mate, not bad for a first crack at all, sounds like you've had some ups n downs aswell! i like the aquascaping.... personally i like to see lots of ope space for the fish to swim in :)

as for the pipe you were on about, could you not put a weir in front of it? it would at least hide it? as for the plenum question..... you'll have to wait for someone else im afraid! :o havent got a clue myself!

love the old skool RS TURBO..... got a 2ltr turbo tomcat in my garage i dont use anymore, i wanted a rsturbo but being 22 at the time, couldn't get insured! :o

Is that skimmer going to be up to the job? I think it's the same one they put on the perc 120 and people complain it's not good enough for that. I know it's all too easy to say go for better equipment but I think that a better skimmer may save you a lot of headaches.

I know kids can get to you but that may be a bit extreme.

and what a nightmare laying all that concrete was i just knew something was going to go wrong i had ordered 4.5 square metres of it,but it was'nt till we had emptyed the truck that something did'nt look right(not enough)then the truck driver give me the invoice and it said 3.5 square metres aaarrrhhh and this was 4 oclock in the afternoon anyway they got it sorted after i give them some abuse over the phone.and all this on a very hot day so stopping it setting until the next truck arrived was'nt easy.

mazza,

I know how you feel we are nearly finished with our garage project it was a massive job and at times a real head ache, we ordered 6 meters of concrete a full truck load only to find we did not have enough and needed another 4 meters, luckly we broke it into two sections as they could not deliver it all in one day and also trying to float a floor that size is a head ache as well.

I have moved into it as my offices and store room but my tank has not moved in with me yet, had my outside sump house built and moved the sump tank in last Sunday so now the tank needs moving.

Good luck with your build.

What are the tank and sump dimensions???

Manta

Been there got the t-shirt with the hair algae - know exactly how you feel. Skimmer does look a bit lost in that size of system, is it possible you could pick up something from the classifieds, shorty or 701 eg? On saying that you've done a good job - doesn't look bad at all in that bottom pic.

mazza
16-08-08, 17:04
tank dimensions are 72"x30"hx22" main tank and sump is 72"x15"x22"
yes that wee skimmer is definatly too small, have an ap701 lined up.saying that theres only 5 small fish in there at the moment.tryed a shorty but did'nt think much to it.
need a load of turbos as i sold my others.

mazza
18-02-09, 22:26
well the s1501 denitrator was one off the things i sold but i think i am going back to running a plenum in the sump.

well desided to have a redo and finally get round to drilling another hole and fitting a weir box as when we first got it,it only had 1 40mm downpipe with no weir which was pants,so drained 580 ltrs and set about getting it sorted.

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r43/mazza355/004-1.jpg

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r43/mazza355/011.jpg
