View Full Version : Tridacna 200 Has arrived (photos)
Well the tank was due to arrive Friday at 9 am, and what a service from Aqua medic who delivered the tank on behalf of the retailer, 8.50 am on Friday the lorry reversed up on my drive.
Oh my god what a size, the main tank came perfectly crated and the stand was well wrapped and packed too, and there was boxes and boxes of goodies.

Well, at 3pm it was time for the dreaded lift, all the guys had come down from the pub where they work....(maybe a bad move)lol...and we were ready to get this Daddy through the back gate.
Nine of us lifting this baby, Some people say " That this tank is not heavy" Some people say that This tank doesnt weigh nearly 3/4 of a tonne, well nine of us after said stuff that lets sit down for an hour and never again.
The Bar manager from my local pub came down in his work gear trousers and shirt....first lift and strain ... and there it was a total eclipse as his backside came flying through his trousers I reckon a 9" rip. had to go back to work at five too...lol
First attempt through the gate and NO WAY, gate is coming off, as we put the tank back down to resting point my neighbour lost his footing and bang laid out on his back on the crate where we were trying to lay down the tank, how inconsiderate having a lay down on the job whilst we were working..lol
Health & Safety whats all that.
Anyway second attempt lots of strain and panick and its in place.

Lovely bit of kit!! I just went looking at specs and prices. GASP!!!!!:D
Tridacna 200 was £9010.00 if i remember rightly, i had a credit against the system because the Tridacna came with lights in the price but I upgraded to the Electronic ballast aquasunlight SG with moonlight LED's with 3 250w and 4 T5 Blues, that was a cost of £2035.51, the chillers were £1,060.00 each and i have two of them ;)
AT control and probes £1526.81 and the gas system £334.67, oh and the UV's were £165.00 each
GOD I'm SKINT.

I havent set my At system up yet, but was wondering if anybody has this set up on there tank, I cant believe that i could be swimming with the fish in the red sea stroll up on the beach and switch on my lap top and adjust parameters on my tank or simply keep an eye on things whilst away.
http://www.ultimatereef.net/uploader/2006Q4/At Control.JPG
The Aqua Medic AT Control System is an electronic centralised control unit for aquariums, terrariums or other applications
AT-Control can measure and control pH, ORP (Redox potential), temperature, conductivity, water level and using the numerous timed circuits, lighting, dosing etc.
Programming and control can also be undertaken using a PC via a USB connection. The system is modular in arrangement. It can be enlarged from a basic module to a complete control unit for several aquariums. All the modules are interconnected via USB ports. The data can be downloaded to a PC and shown graphically.
The Base unit consists of the Controller containing the microprocessor and the display and a Power Box. Also included are an interface for PC connection, a CD with the software and a temperature probe.
The Power Box is configured with 6 mains power outlets, seven USB sockets and direct connections for a level and a temperature probe. All other probes are connected via the USB ports and a corresponding Interface Box to the Power Box. If more than seven connections are needed, a USB hub can be added. Several Power Boxes can be connected to one Controller via the USB ports. This enables several aquariums with many different probes to be connected to one AT control unit.
Set points can be programmed as fixed points or as arithmetic curves so, for example, temperature can be programmed to follow a day/night curve and regulated with heaters and chillers.
Special accessories: Users with a broadband telephone connection can connect the AT control via an ethernet interface to the internet. The AT control can then be controlled or programmed from any remote computer with internet access. Using the optional SMS interface, various alarm notifications can be sent directly to a mobile phone.
:worship: wow looks awesome,i thought when my anthias turned up crated that it was big ,but this is just awesome:thumbsup: .

Am I still happy? Well most of the time. I do sometimes wish the tank was a bit longer. The 200 looks about the right length
I got the clam a few years ago from another member on here. I have since sold it to another member on here a few months ago.
Clams.co.uk would be the place to buy from.

Like the brackets supporting the light unit, are they floor standing or bolted to the back of the tank in some way.
They are supported to the base of the tank at the very bottom, My other tank has the wall brackets and has the arcadia unit but the brackets in the wall especially in plasterboard and giving the weight of the units make me extremely nervous.
that egg crate is cool where did you get that from ?

Masha,
this was pretty much the setup I ordered from Aqua Medic although it was a 160. It was going in the same place. And it looks like we have the same taste in cars.
It was all ordered and awaiting delivery but Aqua Medic d1cked me around. Not impressed with them at all.
When I do it next time though, I think I will go for the 200. looks very nice :)

i didnt think it was worth the risk. a few people had told me they did eat clams.
when a clam dies it remains open and looks alive the worm smells the decay and goes in and eats them from the inside out, very comman for them to be blammed for this but they are innocent

Masha, is that the standard sump in the Tridacna, been having a look at one or two for sale and they come with a Blue reef unit or something?
Overall, what do you reckon on the tank now it's been running for a while? any issues?
Cheers

Cheers Masha,
Your sump looks a lot better than the new Blue one, wonder what the differences are.
Just one more question, did the tank come with that bracket for the lights as standard?

Hi publican
My sump is made of glass and the blue reef on the new systems share a common combined filter and sump of moulded acrylic.
The light bracket does not come as standard, a very good friend of mine sorted that for me. So are you thinking of getting a Tridacna.
that really is looking rather nice! bet it cost an arm though! Im loving the hammer coral and equipment pics. Really nice;)
keep up the good work!
