ok well read the sticky and as my tank is just riunning the inital curation stage (using lots of external filter power, big ass skimmer and few rock method)

anyway although im unable to get a free trial bottle (though i would like one) i still want to know what this new fangled technological stuff is, i assume you use bacteria to leech off your toxins and as bacteria thrives, and is easy to replace, make it harder to cause many problems whilst giving superbly low levels of said toxins, but what do i need to do to start using these bacteria's.

i have the external filters, so i would use them for things such as rowaphos, active carbon and the special inside a filter bag like rowa phos and active carbon stuff mentioned in another post, as well as the daily dosing of the magi-crap, dont want to spend the extra money on a reactor just yet as its alot of money for something i have no experience with.

so can anyone tell me the names of the suppliments iu will need for this, and what the special filter insert is called to work on a tank specifically for fish mostly with fewer corals (if that actually matters)

cheers!

HI
Glad to see you are adopting the use of external filters big ass skimmer and few rocks method :-)

In what sounds like it is largely going to be a fish based system, you may find that trying to run a LNS is not worth the effort. To be honest these new methods simply encourage a greater quantity and diversity of bacteria through selective ancillary feeding. So the bacteria consume nitrates phosphates and the broad range of nutrients in the aquarium improving water quality and associated coral and fish health.

There is about to be a 7 page primer PDF posted here that talks in general terms about low nutrient aquatics you may like to browse this have a think and pop back.

i will be keeping some corals though, mostly softs, leathers and mushrooms and polyps.

though i was thinking maybe i might be able to get 1 or 2 SPS corals in there?

would this warrent using this new bacteria additives?

:EDIT:

ment LPS want a hammer :)

though im not sure with only t5's available and not halides :(

the simplest and easiest method to go down is the prodio bio. From what you have described I would look into that.

SCOOB's been up to his neck in it, anyway with a little help from his friends he finally managed to get his act together and the article is pinned at the top of this forum :)
