i've seen some references to jewel coral being associated to species of porites , but i guess from your description its not these.
flowerpot coral is a common name for a goniopora

Gonis react poorly to light shock, i am guessing your LFS wasn't running 2 x 250w halides:) I found this out the hard way when i switched from a 150w halide and it pretty much finished mine off.:(
There are some good gonipora sites including http://www.goniopora.org/acclimation.htm.
Though it may just be sulking due to water changes/transportation.
Some wholesalers sometimes list gonipora as jewel coral. Maybe thats why your LFS was listing it as such.
