Ok, so there is a rough guide in the ultra min and bak instructions

2 - 5 ml /1000Lts [bak] and 3 - 5 ml /1000lts daily [min]

I have observed the advice to start low and slow, so i'm doing on the lower end of those scales per 334lts

i.e. 0.66 ml /334 [bak] and 1ml/334 [min], does this look like i am on track? is there any sense in building up the bacterial population with the bak BEFORE applying the min?

Also is it worth dosing per day or every other day/once a week etc to start out with?

TIA

My tank is 500litres, after 6 weeks of slowly building up my dosage i am now at 1.6ml of each, which i dose by splitting the dossage morning and night every day.

I started off at much, much lower than even the minimum dosage - i.e. somewhere in the region of 0.2 ml per 1000 litres. I've been increasing the dose by 0.1 ml per week, and am now dosing around 3 ml per 1000 litres of each. Nothing good ever happens quickly! :p

Hi Claude

Yes the dosing instruction said another thing

When we start with the system there was a lot of tanks which have more nutrition in water. So the smaller dosage will not work fast enough.
How lower the nutrition level how less you need

After this time we make a new manual where we write about the differents dosings of the UltraBak an S
It is very hard to say to each tank witout to see it how many they must dose

Greets Claude S. :-)

I've got a Chromis tank - 100l approx. so I started off by adding .025ml Min & .05ml Bak daily - increased the amount after a week of this regime to 0.05ml Min & 0.1ml Bak. I then plan to increase to 0.1ml Min and 0.2ml Bak after another couple of weeks.

Am I doing this right?

Hi Claude S
Is my understanding correct with a high nutrient tank - to start half final ultralith amount, and dose at the higher quantity of bak - reducing as nitrates come down. And with the ultra min increase gradually as nitates come down. hope this makes sense. Look forward to new manual:thanks:

Bit of an update here

i've been dosing min and bak for about 3 weeks now and i the changes i have seen have been ..................... minimal.

no change in sps colouration
no change in nitrate level
no algae of any sort
no increase or decrease in glass cleaning
no ... nothing really.

Started of with 0.5ml per 335lts of Bak every day and 0.5ml Min every other day

2 weeks ago, upped dosage to 1ml of bak everyday and 1ml of Min every other day.

Oh, so they are completely different things! :)

If i wanted to do a basic startup with this method would i just need ultra bac and ultramin-s?
