View Full Version : Doser - 1ltr max?
I bought the doser today, plugged it in tonight & went to setup the program to dose 4ltrs (4000ml) of Kalk over a 14hr period, but it will only let me dose a max of 1100ml per program, so I've had to do the 4ltrs over 4 programs @ 3.5hrs each, I can't see in the instructions that its limited to 1100ml per program though?
Cheers, Shelton.

Yes, that is a limit per program. These pumps are really designed as dosers not continuous peri pumps. Although I did use mine to run my calcium reactor for a short period. You will also find that you cannot run 2 or 3 pumps at the same time. This is by design so that you cannot dose chemicals that may react with each other and precipitate out of solution.
They are an excellent bit of kit and so easy to program compared to most peri pumps where the adjustment is just speed of the motor and diameter of the tubing. If you want 100ml over 2 hrs that is what you get.
When I ran kalk I think I had about 24 programs so that I could only dose when the kalk stirrer wasn't in operation and then increase each dose through the night as PH fell and reduce as PH rised with the lights coming on, this gave me a dead constant Ph after a lot of fine tuning which is easy looking at the AQ graphs on a pc. Infinitely programmable but does take a bit of setting up. :)

Thanks for that Steve, just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong! Its seems to come on for 2secs then off for 4 atm, as you say it might take a little bit of fine tuning to get it totally right....

Agreed, note to Ian: Most users of these systems are pretty savvy and knowing the algorithm that AQ use to calculate the dosing would really help us get the most out of these units. Please could you ask AQ for us.:)
Thanks

I thought that this thread might give an answer to why my dosing pump limit was 1360 ml. I have just recalibrated my pump and it was dropped to 1260 ml .
So is the limitation derived from the pump calibration and is it a limit per minute or hour, in which case why is it the same limit over a period of hours and not extrapolated accordingly?
I set my pumps up to deliver 1200 ml from my Calcium Reactor over a period of 12 hours, which was fine, but then could not increase the dose beyond the 1260 limit.
However if I set an hourly periodicity the limit is the same and I can get tons more from the Reactor int the tank but it means running overnight which I don't want. :annoyed:
I cannot find anything informative from Aquatronica, has anyone else got any suggestions?
Thankyou for any responses. :thanks:
Regards
Andy
