~Following some issues with the Ethernet module, I am pleased to report that it is working very well!

E-mail alerts when an alarm is triggered, full web access to view current conditions and SOME control from any web enabled PC in the world.

Status e-mails sent at regular intervals hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or on prescribed days of the week when you are at work etc these can be sent to multiple e-mail address and form a valuable history of your parameters.

Here is an example of the status e-mail:

===========
Sump pH 8.12
Level OK
Density 1.0238 (never calibrated it so ignore this figure)
Calcium pH 6.25
Temperature 26.9°C

Pumps/Heater
Sump Fan: Off
Heater: Off
Skimmer Feed: Timer program - On
Skimmer: Timer program - On
Stream Right: Timer program - On
F: Off

Lighting
Centre Hallide: Off
L/R Hallide: Off
Actinics: Off
D: Off
E: Off
F: Off

Additives
Calc Circ. Pump: Manual setting - Off
B: Manual setting - Off
Co2 Solenoid: Manual setting - Off
Kalc Stirrer: Manual setting - Off
E: Off
Tank Fans: Off

==========

Now that is great, especially when on holiday, however much you trust the carer of your tank.

There are other systems that offer total control over the internet so AQ need to build on this, and with the increasing popularity of dosing pumps include them in the web interface and the status emails. It is a damn good start though... even if I have now got to find another £120 paper weight

Good stuff

wow that is awesome, never knew it could cover so much with an e-mail :D

so basically i could bugger off to the maldives for a fortnight, get the reception staff to deliver my 'tank e-mail' to my room every morning, get up have a quick check then go diving for the day, or get up have a quick check and call my neighbour to pop round and do xyz?

that is pretty awesome :)

Or just connect via wifi at the pool bar and turn your pumps on and off when one of the kentish muppets is feeding the tank to scare the hell out of them. Or taking it a step further why not connect an air horn to a socket and scare them to death!!!

lol

Well, I am gagged by the sponsorship on UR (I have applied) but I am building a business based on aquarium control. Full aquarium control isn't always easy but with the correct support from dedicated dealers it can't half take the worry out of leaving your pride and joy unattended. With a background in IT systems with 99.9% service level agreements I realise it is just as important on home aquariums.

If there is enough interest I will open up my network and let you see the interface and control abilities of these controllers.

Yep, already have that set up, it has proved invaluable in the past when I had an IKS, I had that set up to publish the results on the net. But I just couldn't understand why the tank temperature was not going down at night. I stayed up the next night and checked on the webcam... the timer had failed and one of the hallides was staying on 24 hrs a day!

Just seeing results is part of the story, I even have my control systems linked to my weather station at http://www.weatherdreams.co.uk (http://www.weatherdreams.co.uk/) to bring extra cooling into action if it is very hot outside.

Ohh the joys of technology!
