I have a green bubble coral that has grown massively in the last three months, to about 12 inches by 8 inches. Unfortunately it is looking out of scale in my 6ft tank and looks like I will need to let it go. Does anyone know if these things can be fragged? Or else I will have to sell it on, which is a shame. I didn't think I'd get emotionally attached to an invertebrate!
Fraging a bubble coral would probably not be successful unless you can find a part on the colony that is already seperated..i.e does not have tissue attached.

any chance you can pop a pic of it up? a bubble coral is not a softie we may be talking about something else.
would not want to give the wrong advice.

I have seen a thread somewhere maybe reef central on fragging LPS with great success,I think as you would expect very good water quality to be the key in healing and they werent gentle!

Nice,
thats not going to be easy to frag, its a large polyp stony coral.
If you look at it when fully expanded and can see the main body with the mouths I think you will find its all one multiple mouthed animal. they do subdivide and if it has done then IF you can slpit it at the point of division you may succeed, but like I said not easy and I think quite a risk

yes , I fed mine around once a week. basically it will eat whatever it can get and grow accordingly. anything between twice a week and once a month should be ok.

Thanks withoutabix. Sound advice. I think that's reason enough to apply to the "authorities" for a bigger system. I feed the tank with frozen cyclops a couple of times a week. The corals seem to thrive. And the lighting is 3 * 250W MH and actinics (tank is 6*2*2.5H). Cheers!
I have a smaller one maybe 5x4inch How about a swap?:)
