I have just replaced my 14k 250 watts with Marine Lux from Marine Lighting and can confirm they are far better than any I have used so far. My old ones were about 8 months old and when the tank did not look bright, I felt it was the water being yellow and not the lights. The new bulbs do make the tank look a lot brighter - more so than when I last replaced the lamps. Hope the intensity stays at this level for the next "few" months.

well i dont have any kit to test them other than my humble eye balls, but the 14k's look very nice. i wasnt 100% sure at first, but now they have burned in IMO they look better than coralvue 14k's easily

Looking at your home page they definately bring out the colours better. The coralvues look lovely but i always find blue tinged halides mute the reds.Would you say they are a crisp white or have a blue tinge?Im going to be looking for replacements soon so as much feedback as poss is very much appreciated.
Im running an Arcadia 14k on each end and an xm 20k in the centre at the mo,do you find you need to run a bluer lamp in the centre miuzzy to retain balance?
A question for Rob,are these lamps o.k for Arcadia series 3's?.I take it they are pulse start by design?
regards and thanks Tony

go to the photos on my "latest photos" page.
the top one taken in may was under the new lamps but only a day old, but even there i think it looks better.

they have a blue tinge to them, but not too much blue.

I've just replaced two of my Coralvue 10000K lamps with MarineLux 14000K lamps. Initially I was a bit unsure, but I've left them in and already after a week I am loving the look of them. I still have a CV 10000K in the middle, with the two 14000K either side. Definitely recommended!

How would you rate them colour wise Ian? Not as blue as the Coralvue 10k?

Blimey your joking, they are alot bluer then the coralview 10k's

Believe me, I've just done the same swap.

I love the look, much better than the white of the 10k's

Cheers Craigg, not having seen the lamps its hard to compare.Im running arcadia 14's at the mo which look like 10's to me.Its a really difficult choice as one manufactures 14 may be anothers 10.

i have a 20k coralview in the centre rather a 10k as i prefer a bluer look, would be interesting to see a shot of yours with your combination

For what it's worth, I've just replaced Arcadia 250w 14k with

wait for it

Arcadia 250w 14k !!

The difference is amazing. Old bulbs yellow. New bulbs blue.

The point I'm making is that I think we end up comparing old worn out bulbs with nice new ones, so we never really know what's what. Even changing for the same, but new, bulb makes a huge difference.

You've also got to let them burn in though,Ive had lamps start out very blue, after a burn in they definitely whiten/yellow back up.

Hi all

Some positive feedback on these lamps. Thank You. :thanks:

Please note there will be some variation in output in using these, or other, lamps due to what ballasts are used to drive them.

Regards
