I have my Aquatronica up and running. I wanted to calibrate the temperature so I borrowed a pinpoint thermometer. The thermometer however was obviously reading high (by an amount that it was obviously wrong). The Aquatronica indicated temperature appears to be in the right order. Do you know what the likely temperature error is on an uncalibrated probe as I am tempted to leave it as it is.

Stability is more important than the precise temperature, so the calibration as shipped will be ok. Mine was and stays within about +/- 0.3c of the temperature indicated by my lab grade thermometer.

If you want to calibrate it then I would suggest a Brannan (http://www.brannan.co.uk/products/lab_bs593.html) (01946 816624) lab grade thermometer which you can buy direct from them.

Their 1 off price was:
51/061/0 BS593 Lab Thermometer -0.5/40.5c x 0.1c - £28.73 +5.03 vat = £33.76

Thanks Tony. Given the high cost of the lab grade thermometer. I think I will assume it is OK. Everything seems fine so why tamper.
