Looking really good mate well done
i know you get the hype marine is demanding but its like a real human family adults, children and babies all have different tastes and requirements the corals and fish are just the same if you dont feed them certain foods in a specific way at a specific time you can tell they are sulking:laugh: its worth all the effort in my opinion:D
Looking good Jon :D

John.
i had built the shed and placed everything in it sep/oct last year obviously tested for leaks and that everything worked and functioned properly during that period any temp fluctuations and noticable problems were noted and im pleased to say only 1deg drop in temp was found also it was advised to get insulation for pipes and sump this has been added and in the dining room silence as no equipment whatsoever:p

Question for any one who wishes to answer apart from painting the back of the tank or a sheet of coloured printed design any other option available to cater for this requirement?
Some people (particularly with larger tanks thoug) are using spray 'foam' to create an in tank background - I think fireproofcujo has his tank done like this
Some people (particularly with larger tanks thoug) are using spray 'foam' to create an in tank background - I think fireproofcujo has his tank done like this
Interesting ill take a look at that option ive seen tmc do a plastic mould which just looks like fiji rock ive seen people cover weirs with this wonder if its any good i think the tank looks plop @ the moment and doing a better background would make a drastic effect on its overall appearance
cheers jon

hi mate
there is the option of sparydekord and it looks effective ive seen valleyboys tank and it looks good once seeded with coraline algae
im also looking @ a thin blue plastic sheet covering the back of the tank there is a signage company not far from me which has all types of plastics and colourations etc etc i will also look @ reaquascaping the tank instead of using eggcrate using plastic with raised platforms and seperating the softies from the lps and making a new area for my sps as you would see in the wild big open spaces then loads of softies another big gap then sps and throw some lps in between ok i think im gonna be busy

 yes it is quite only downside with 95% of kit outside is the weather:( rain, sleet or snow you have to make all adjustments out there but big plus no floods ever inside no overflowing skimmer 2 downpipes in weir making it foolproof so no overfill noisy pumps in sump away from house water changes etc etc all outside :applause: so overall more plus's than negatives and the major plus is the wife is happy so that seals it :hysterical:

insulation of outbuilding needs to be on the next to do list
all companies have sent quotes and ive revised it now to 8x2x3 weirs @ both ends with twin downpipes so awaiting new quotes ill keep you all informed as soon as i get news

Quick question im thinking of lino or floor tiles for the rooms ground surface anyone agree and/or any other suggestions im thinking of easy mop for those little spills:p
fireproofcujo
12-10-07, 00:53
lino will be the easiest to pull back up if needed and a huge leak free area for those mop up days
I thought it was a boys play den get the thick hugh hef deep shag pile playboy carpet down
And get the bar in there as well then i will come visit
Really cool seeing tanks like this :) Big  and :thanks: for the viewing pleasure.
Keen to see once the foam has gone in :)

:thanks: for the comment
yeah this 8fter will be using ideas ive been watching from fireproofcujo, jaggy and valley boy all have or using foam spray so realistic and big thing alot cheaper than rock:cool:
ok b@q have made me rethink on insulation using plasterboard instead of plywood with thermo wool behind and give it a very thin skim of plaster and raised platform with treated timber beds with little sloping gullys from lino to allow water dispersion :D

Just to remind everyone tank arrives 22/11/07 pics on that date as install begins :applause: :applause:   :applause: :applause: im a touch excited dont know if its showing :o
Tank arrived today took seven men to shift the bugger jeeeez thats a heavy tank
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb73/jonny72/fishtank446.jpg
It all started @ 10am this morning brother and brother in law arrived i told them just shifting a tank will take about two hours :whistling: .......;)
drove down in lorry to location in manchester of tank i was very lucky indeed the tank had been set up in hertfordshire in a corpoarte business reception and they decided it was too big .
i was readily available to take the reins and take ownership of this fine tank @ a massively reduced cost:D
Nice tank m8
thanks carl more pics to follow of sumps and pumps:p
looking forward to see how your tank comes to life
so arrived @ 10.20 was meeting these other guys @ this garage for 10.30 when i heard about it i was still under the silly idea that the tank was easy to handle and manoevour
so anyway these guys turn up open this garage and there it is tank on stand with sump and pipe work still in tank and water swirlling around bottom of tank its only when you stand next to this tank you see its size:laugh:
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb73/jonny72/fishtank447.jpg
so anyway theres me and my two bros staring in awe but petrified that we are gonna have to lift this beast shove onto a lorry take it off the lorry and take 60 yards down the side of my house to the outbuilding designated for it:laugh:
luckily the two guys there were coming with us so driving the lorry close up to the tank ment just a simple lift and onto the lorry ply flooring
Went back and got the base with cabinet and one of the sumps
