well finally fired up my skim2 last night!,
wanted to break it in before adding it to the tank, so i filled a container with tank water and put the skimmer in the depth of the water is 20cm, i pluged it in, had a fiddle (with the skimmer!)
and then WOW never seen so many bubbles, its just a mass of air, ajusted the level of the foam and have left it, now i just have to figure out how its going to fit in my sump!, looks like i may have to re plumb the whole tank to get it in at the right depth:rolleyes: , needs doing anyway but i HAVE to get this on my tank, very very impressive, i love it:D thanks for the help from the other guys on here and claude, was quite simple in the end, :o
Told you it was good ;)
You have Pm mate.
Glad it's running:applause:  . I can remember the first time I fired mine up, I was grining for about an hour:D .
If your having trouble fitting the base plate in the sump due to baffles, I overcame it by making a frame for the skimmer out of reef-safe pipe.
Jim
Steve, did you get the jet version or needle wheel? can you post some photos up?

the trouble with fitting it is my main part of the sump where it was going to go is 30cm deep, i cant drop the level due to the baffle, if i raise the skimmer i cant get the cup on or off:rolleyes: so it will have to go in my end chamber where the water is lower....but.. i dont know if ill get the skimmer and the return pump in there to, it will be very very tight!
keith i have the needle wheel version.:)
Is that the V2skim your on about? If not whats the full name and size and cost ect?
sIt sounds great!
I surpose changing the sump flow direction is out of the question:whistling:  .
I'm about to re-plum my overflow so it enters near the intake pump:cool: .

No its not the V2 skim.
The skimmer is made by Fauna Marin and its called the ultra skim 2.
Not sure on the size as the size quoted by the manufactures is apparantly not correct. :)

Which one are we talking about as above it mentions the V2 Skim and the Fauna Marin Ultra Skim? :)
If you mean the fauna marin skimmers, I've got the ultra skim3 and have had no problems with micro bubbles:)
Jim.
I also have the Skim 3 and i also have no problems as well. :)

Just fired up my new Skim 2 which is in a koi vat where all my stock is while i upgrade, :whistling: was amazed at how quiet they are, how easy they are to adjust and the sheer amount of foam they produce  .
