Did you make your tall columns using drilled rock over pipework ?
rgds,
Ant
ooh, love that scaping, dare i say it looks more interesting than last time, be great when totally grown over.
looks like a cheaper tank to run too, less lights, less pumps. any chance of a break down of stock so far?
the columns are cemented with a new product from a member on this board called nats.

Hi Mark,
I've looked back at Nats' posts and found where he mentions reef cement but no more details. any chance you could let us know the brand and where it can be obtained ?
thanks,
Ant
About time too :p :D
Thought you'd been busy recently
Now I've seen it with water in it's much easier to visualise the swimming spaces, and also the available area for corals.
I think that in time this will look even more spectacular than the last one as the natural grow out you'll get on some of the sps will look great :applause:  :worship: :worship:
Just remember to turn your lights out at night now... :o :whistling:

looking good.
hows the patch up holding up?
S
well i have no water loss ( apart from the 3 joint i forgot to weld )
nats is selling the cement.
2 things that struck me.
i underskimmed the tank to clear it a bit and used seachem salt.
when the tank went on-live , had no ph fluctuations or redox fall
i was surprised and pleased at both
mark
looks good mark ill be up at the weekend to see how me pillars look all WET !!

Surely at his age he's mature enough already :p  ...
oh, you mean the tank ;)
Joking aside, I actually think the new layout will be better than the old one.
With all that volume, the fish will have a fab time, and I think it will have a great natural look  :applause: :worship: :worship:

Now that is going to look stunning when its all settled Mark...
10/10 on this one m8, and it looks like youve cracked the issue with lightspread down the columns....
One of the best parts of reefkeeping imo is watching (and marveling) at just how fast new rockwork can colonise to the degree it looks like its always been that way...
Regards
si.
thanks for all the great comments

I'l be praying for you every night! :D
wow great looking setup like the aquascapeing
How much of the reef cement do you get through? I see it comes in a 2kg tub but how much did you use on those columns etc?
phishy,
dont think mark will mind me replying to this as i did the scaping,
tank used approx 50kg, but remember were not talkin a normal tank here.:D
and i dont think he had any noticable ph swings when he filled it up...

lol no not a normal tank. So 'scaping a 6 footer wouldn't take more than 1 tub then I guess?
phishy
scaping a 6 footer , depends on what you would want to do..a tub would go a fair way, just have to remember to mix small amounts as it goes off fairly fast.

Looking really good Mark. I've been lucky enough to see this setup in person and the tank ans aquascaping is even better in person - a credit to Mark. Looking fwd to seing this mature and develop....
well. started to cycle now , have brown algae all over the sand and rock. ( great )
wanted to increase the height of the weirs , so i added some more bits of rock yesterday morning.
couple of hours later , the level in the tank had dropped filling the sump.
backed of the valve ( opened it again ) , backed ot of again , was struggling all day getting the correct height
thought i had cracked it at 9.00pm last night.
was woken by the wife at 2.30 this morning sayin their was a weird noise coming from the celler
great. went down and the sump was almost empty. went to the tank and it had flooded ( not too much )
pulled the new live rock back out and within 20mns it was back to normal
now , very tired , i remeber why i shut it down.
why ohhhhhhh why do we mess about with our tanks when they are fine
oh the dreaded floods!!! my wife doesnt know about those yet! LMAO! and Mark DONT tell her! ;)

I saw this tank again at the weekend, all I can say is there is one problem with it - it's so full of awesome corals and fish you can look over the tank a dozen times and still miss half of the stuff in there!

An inspiration to all.
Not everyone can aspire to an aquarium of this size - but how can you be anything other than in awe of the dedication needed to assemble and maintain such a collection.
Just a marvel.:worship::worship::worship:
your tank is beautiful. it gives newbies like me somthing to aim for!!:worship:
Too much colour IMO, not really a true representation of the reef.........swap you my brown scolly for your red one! :P
Lookin sweet
