Can i ask how you guys have managed to get one so soon? :)
i assume they got them from Glee?
what are you guys putting them into, are they for the FM skimmers only? I have no idea what pumps they use?
FM guinea pigs ;)
Jobr, Wizard - you guys will like it!
The pump with the meshwheel seems to pump less water than with the venturi (can't compare to the NW) but the quality of the bubbles is better IMO. The cyclone effect at the bottom of the skimmer is slower and the foam production seems more stable. I've had to raise the water level inside the skimmer to compensate for the reduction in flow. Its still very early days but I think I prefer the Mesh Wheel...
It would be great if Claude also offers a retro kit for the Jet Venturis and Needlewheels... Then you can buy one skimmer and run it however you want! No more arguements about which is better..you can have all three and decide for yourself

the skim 1 and 2 have aquabees as far as i am aware. :)

Aquabees pumps
Skim 1,2, & 3 use aquabees unless you went for the RD version

Would these fit in my deltec ts1060 pumps and how much are they please?

HI
No it annot be use in a Eheim Pump
but in Aquabee pumps 2000 /1
Greets
My ts1060 uses twin aquabee up 2000/1 pumps, so i could use these then how much are they each?
Being i'm running two 1060 i'd be needing 4!
So whats the deal with these, I'm about to order a US1, do I now have the option of Venturi, Needle or Mesh wheel? Are they out yet? Are they retro-fit in place of the needle wheel?
How does the noise compare? Is it louder with the mesh wheel?
Don't know why I like the idea of the mesh wheel... but I do.
If you want one I would specifically tell the retailer you order it from that you want a mesh wheel pump.
How quickly you get one may be a different issue. Don't know when they will be available in the UK, they certainly are not at the moment, Claude produced these ones to show at Glee. Again ask the retailer to get an idea from the importer when stock is expected.
Just so now one starts to ask there retailar about the mesh wheel, it is currently only going to be available on the skim 1 and 2, there is not one at present for the skim 3 just to let you all know.

Does this mean they can be used in a (dare I say it for fear of being attacked by FM groupies:laugh: ) MCE600?
Is there anywhere that i can buy the black mesh that is used on the mesh wheels, or very similar material.
I have a spare impellor that i could modify if i can get hold of some of the black mesh!

You could try your lfs and look at the various filters you can buy to go inside canister filters you may find something that you want to try. :)

Paint strippers that you put into drills either from B&Q or Wickes. Can't remember which. However I would urge you to find out if they have any additives etc.
Dave
Hi
You can get a skim3 mesh wheel you need a modified jet venturi version this uses two aquabee's instead of the Aquabee 5000 enclosed needlewheel, that would be an amazing amount of fine bubbles.
Jez
dig around on the net and you'll find them now available for EUR 67.50! ;)
..some people have asked me to post skimmate photos of the meshweel...
Here is 4 days worth after the skimmer has had a chance to bed in. FWIW, Ozone was not used over these 4 days but tank is very heavily fed (for azoox corals)

very please with how its working!
EDIT: forgot to add, the bubble break line is just above where the bottom of the cup joins with the neck of the skimmer
what difference have you noticed with the mesh wheel, is it the size of the bubbles or the amount of them?
:thanks:

They will be with ITC this coming week and in your shops the week after so i have been told. :)
Cheers for that, who are the main retails who are likely to be stocking these?

you could try ITC direct or Steve at Reefdreams, i am sure there are others, i have used Steve a lot and find the mans service top quality and he will do what he can to help, he is also a sponsor on here. :)

ITC are not a retailer, you need to go a shop, sponsors who stock ITC stuff include Reefdreams and STM.
I would order one sooner rather than later if you want one, but once again it appears there is confusion on this product created.
I would check that the new mesh wheel impeller is compatible with all the current aquabee pumps.
I been pmed a link to a shop that stocks these and they do them for the old and new aquabee 2000/1 pumps, so i can't see there being a problem! :D

Hi All
Just in case anybody was thinking of trying it I,ve fitted a mesh wheel to my apf600 and boy is it good. The standard pin wheel was pulling about 380 ish l/m of air with the mesh wheel i'm getting 550, had to drop the water level to about an inch below the cup fitting to stop overflowing. Advantage with dropping it is the effective riser tube lengh has increased. Pulling out really thick black gunk and i'm well impressed.
Anakin
Did you fit a proper mesh wheel or did you fit a diy job?
Anakinlucas

Fitted a genuine one...
Anakin
Did you buy it from a UK retailer, if so who and if you don't mind what did it cost you?

Hi
Pleased to say that these excellent skimmers are now back in stock, but again flying out the door. With the change to the blue range we left out the skim 1 but this will be back in the list with our next order.

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x112/DAHAMMER_photos/Meshwheel.jpg
I take it this bit is for the water intake into the pump with the air slot venturi :whistling:

Hi Wizard
So you install the things ?
fine that all is working
Greets Claude
Claude,
Will you ever offer one for the single pump ultra skim 3 as i believe in the past tests have shown the motor has been too powerful as a single pump to run the mesh wheel?
:thanks:

Hi
We will change the complete Wheels once again
To a new designed wheel whis will be more stabil then the meshwheel
and more easy to produce.
The normal meshwheel has sometimes also problems with the loudness and
i think the new wheels are more quiet

But will there be a new design for the single pump Skim 3
It is not known yet.
New wheel is very good.
Time will tell if it is suitable for a skim 3, it certainly works in 1 and 2's.
so this is a newer wheel than the blue fm skimmers?
cheers chris

Hi
It will not ome before Interzoo end of may
and it is not better then the classical Meshwheel
it is only easier to produce , make less noise and it is more stabil
