I know the purists amongst you will undoubtedly scream but one of the most popular aquarium setups in the coldwater and tropical scenario in the UK is the BiOrbs and BiUbes. They far outsell any other system. However, out there in the big wide world are marine lovers who do not have the space or resources to have any semblance of a marine setup in their homes. This is a possible solution. BiOrb have brought out a marine conversion kit for their systems.
