Hi the quickest he has got up has been about 10 minutes, and going to bed about 6 minutes, on average i guess it would be about 20 minutes, i think it depends on how hungry he is!!
Looking very good so far chrissyhac - cool set of pics!
Nice to see it buried in the sandbed and displaying such behaviour. What are you feeding it?

Hi all, it really is an amazing thing to watch, did some research where we found out that it needs a deep sand bed to be happy in, they recommended 4 to 6 inches. He has 2 to 3 at the minute and seems really happy, he stays within his "bed" but always rises in a slightly different spot.
As for feeding him, at the moment he`s getting some "Phyto feast" on a daily basis and seems to love it, soon as he gets a sniff of it his "arms" really stretch out for it. (So far so good).

Sorry to hear that MoOriginal :(
Ours now seems to have settled, hasn`t changed position for almost a week. We have a large rock with a small cave in it...he seems to have got his foot in and under the back of the cave and "rises" in the morning from within the cave itself ! I`ll post some pics tomorrow, catch him as he is waking, he must be enjoying his new "house" because he is growing well, roughly 7 inches when fully awake and when he extends his "arms" to feed he must be 4 to 5 inches across ! :)

Quick update, he`s still thriving, in fact he`s very athletic. Finds himself a nice spot for a few weeks and then up sticks and moves, not very far, 7 to 10 inches, then he`s happy again for another few weeks and he`s off again !!

In this shot, he got too big for his foot and fell over, I think he`s learned now, the bigger he makes his body (semms to be able to "swell" at will) the smaller he has to have his foot !!
Soon sorted himself out though.
Well, certainly looking very healthy! Looks like PhytoFeast is doing the trick!
Are you feeding anything else?

It is a fantastic animal, spend hours watching it, especially "waking up" and retracting at night.
