Hi,

I am a little confused as to which balling soloution the trace elements are meant to be added.

Looking at the FM website manual is says

"Add to can 1 (to the Calcium Chloride-Dihydrate) 25ml of the strontium-complex and 25ml of the heavy-metall-complex.

To can 2 (to the magnesium) you add 25ml of the Iodine-Fluorine Complex."

but on the back of the Iodine-Fluorine bottle is says to add it to the Sodium Bicarb solution not mag.

Could anyone confirm which is correct or if it actually matters?

Thanks,

Matt.

My iodine goes in to the Mag mix.

A lot of people don't add the 3 extra elements and just dose the basic mixtures.

Edit
Just thinking the PDF you are reading from is for the light version, just a guess but I bet the bottle instructions are for non light version.

Thanks,

Think you are right on the different instructions. On the back of the bottle it says for the 2 part method for Ca and Alk, so no mag to add it too.

I have decided as it is a new tank I am going to follow the instructions from the beginning and see how it goes. If 9 months to a year down the line I am not getting on with it I will add a ca reactor. I see you have been running this for a little while now, any tips?

I did it as per the FM website with the iodine complex in the Mg solution. When I do the next filling I will add the iodine complex to the alkalinity solution because I add a lot more alk than I do Mg.

Wold that be a good idea Keith? I would have thought (noob) that they would be relying on people not adding much mag as to not overdose on iodine? Or not?

not a problem - the back of the iodine complex bottle recommends putting it in with the dkh anyway...

HI

Yes this is right

On the back of the bottle is the
stadard Blling methode which we use since more then 15 years in germany
The Balling light methode we developed later for the new modern reef
tanks
